The STRP Award for Creative Technology (ACT) is a new awards series connecting the worlds of creative arts and technology. During STRP Biënnale 2017, an award of 30.000 euro will be presented to an established talent to develop a new work with. Next to that there will be two awards, each worth 15,000 euro, for new works developed by young talents.
The deadline for entry is midnight 15 January, 2017.
Are you an artist, designer, coder or hacker with a fascination for creative technology? Do you have a project you want to realize without delay? Then it’s time to ACT.
With the brand new STRP Award for Creative Technology (ACT), STRP supports creative thinkers and makers with vision and imagination. During STRP Biënnale, held March 24 to April 2 2017, STRP ACT will put its shoulders under the production and presentation of new innovative projects by providing substantial budget and supervision. These projects have to align with STRP’s theme: Senses & Sensors.
STRP Biënnale 2017: Senses & Sensors
Senses & Sensors revolves around perception: how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. How we absorb and comprehend what we see, and how rapidly progressing technological advances expand and augment our perceptions. Senses & Sensors fuses the biological and the digital, human and machine, from a cultural viewpoint, placing interaction and immersion front and center.
STRP Biënnale manifests multitudes of creative technology for curious people. In it’s decade-long existence, STRP has been a bastion for stimulating installations, pioneering music, experimental performances and strong voices. With 30.000 visitors in ten days, STRP takes over the historic Philips Klokgebouw in Eindhoven.
STRP positions Eindhoven and the region of Noord-Brabant as intersections where the present becomes the future and vice versa. STRP ACT’s creative partners are Brabant C, Sint Trudo and Park Strijp Beheer.
Two grants worth 15.000 euro each for a new project by young talent or collective. To fit the criterium, you have to be graduated as an artist or designer (as either a bachelor or master) a maximum of five years prior and live in the EU. Each entrant can submit only one project plan.
The prize money will fund all estimated realization costs, including development, materials, (rented) equipment, fee (no more than 20% of the total budget), travel and accommodation. The resulting works will become part of STRP Agency, meaning that STRP will actively work in close collaboration with the maker to further distribute and promote his or her work over a five year period, within the festival’s international network.
