Maarten Vos (NL)

From an early age Maarten Vos came into contact with music and began playing the cello at age five. During his development in traditional classic, he got into other musical genres, with a great love for experimental and contemporary music. After he finished his bachelor degree in classical cello, he got his masters in Live Electronics at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
Vos proceeds with his own work as a solo artist, composer and producer at the cutting edge of contemporary classical music and electronic experimentation.

Organic sounds are the centre of his pieces. He combines modular synthesizers and other electronic technologies with his old cello. Vos has played at various festivals like Le Guess Who?, Rewire, Motel Mozaïque, Pitch, Eurosonic, Into the Great Wide Open and Cross-linx.

In addition to his solo work, Vos worked in various (inter)national disciplines of music, dance and film. He forms a duo with the British multi-instrumentalist Greg Haines and collaborated with Colin Benders (Kyteman), Julianna Barwick, deadbeat, Tim Exile and Asko | Schoenberg ensemble. Live he will be joined by drummer Bram Hakkens. Maarten currently works from his studio in Kytopia in Utrecht.
