James Bridle (UK) is an artist, writer and publisher from London. He is also a columnist for The Guardian. In his work as an artist he demonstrates the ways in which the digital network world comes together with the physical, offline world. In his recent book New Dark Age,Bridle warns us about the promise of a new Enlightenment that is being driven by current technologies. According to Bridle, we are living in a period of complex uncertainty that is eroding our empathy for each other.

New Scenarios for the Internet
Keynote by James Bridle
STRP conference: New Scenarios for the Future
Together with Fontys University of Applied Sciences Creative Economy, STRP is organising a dynamic, two-day conference program in which the speakers share new inspiration, new images and new ideals that we need to build a hopeful future. We present a lively program with keynotes, panels, performances, encounters with artists and tours through the exhibition
Part of STRP conference day 2: The New Internet
There’s not much left of the original promise of the internet as a true public domain. How can we organize the power of online communities in a noncommercial way, how can we become boss of our own data? Can we maybe even build our own internet?
The New Networked Normal
This program presents STRP as part of the European collaboration project The New Networked Normal (NNN).
NNN brings together five leading organisations in the field of contemporary media arts from across Europe, led by Abandon Normal Devices (UK) with D-I-N-A (ES), Kulturprojekte (DE), Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (ES) and STRP (NL).
Together this partnership will address critical issues through an innovative public programme of digital co-productions, pop-up exhibitions, discursive events, hands-on workshops and online activities
This project has been co-funded with support from the Creative Europe programme.
