Etienne Augé (FR) teaches International and Intercultural Communication, Diplomacy, Film and Science Fiction in the Department of Media and Communication at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He has written books about Propaganda and Super Heroes, among other things. Augé opens the STRP Conference and makes great connections between the present day, the fear-mechanism and how Science Fiction and critical optimism can help us to progress beyond the current conservative period.
