Expo Spacemakers: UN>CTR

— A Matter of Freedom

Spacemakers is a program of STRP Education in which young people from different backgrounds create their own work of art in co-creation with a professional artist. This year, our group of Spacemakers worked with art collective KatPatat. Together they delved deeper into this year's STRP theme: A Matter of Freedom. This year, their final exhibition 'UN>CTRL' will take place at the Hof van Carthesius in Utrecht on 1 and 2 March. This exhibition is free.

Thema: A Matter of Freedom
We live in a free democracy. That means we are free to make our own choices. We decide where we live, what work we do and who we vote for. But does that also mean that we are truly free? And what does that really mean? This year, six young people teamed up with KatPatat to find their true freedom.

UN>CTRL
Spacemakers x KatPatat present their project UN>CTRL at the Hof van Carthesius in Utrecht.During the expo, we invite visitors to reflect on the interaction between control and freedom.The exhibition consists of an interactive installation along a side program. While visiting the installation, we invite visitors to search for the balance between freedom and control themselves. The side program offers perspectives from both visitors and the makers on personal definitions of absolute freedom.
