Erratic Weather

MAOTIK & Maarten Vos

Despite the scepticism of some world leaders, climate change is reality. The world is not just getting warmer, but in some areas of the planet the weather is becoming more erratic. In recent years, we have witnessed the effects and consequences of this shift in the form of violent and unexpected climate phenomena.

Erratic Weather represents the changing atmospheric conditions in an immersive multimedia experience. The system extracts various sources of weather information from an online database and processes them in real time to a visual and surround sound composition. Immerse yourself in the life cycle of swirling phenomena such as a typhoon, hurricane and tropical cyclone, and experience the destructive power of nature and the need to preserve it.

MAOTIK (FR), known in everyday life as Mathieu Le Sourd, is a digital artist dedicated to creating immersive environments, interactive installations, digital architectural sculptures, and audio-visual performances at the intersection of art, science, and technology. He is best known for using computer-generated algorithms to create realistic environments. Using his own audio-visual tools, which generate graphics in real time, he transforms the perception of a space.

Maarten Vos (NL) is a cellist, composer, and producer. With classical musicians as parents, Vos started playing the cello at the age of four. During his musical development, he developed a keen interest in minimalist, contemporary and experimental music. He currently focuses on composing modern-classical, ambient, and electronic music, transforming traditional instruments such as the cello into modern sounds using modular synthesizers and other electronic instruments.
