Raumklang
Zeno van den Broek & Robin Koek
The way you hear sound is determined by the space you’re in, hence the importance of a concert hall’s acoustics. But what if you can experience a space through sound?
Raumklang is a site-specific project that allows you to explore sound architecture by perceiving 4-dimensional objects through hearing. Your perspective and auditory experience constantly change as you make your way around these invisible sonic objects, creating your own unique soundtrack composed by movement.
In addition to the physical installation, online visitors can experience the sound architecture 'through the ears' of another onsite visitor. The website visually depicts the visitor's trajectory in STRP's space and makes it possible to alternate between different paths, to experience multiple perspectives on spatial exploration.
Zeno van den Broek (NL) is a composer and artist whose works explore and disrupt relationships between people and a manufactured environment. He uses audiovisual means to create specific works that challenge conventional conceptions of our experience of space.
Robin Koek (NL) is a sound artist who aims to create a new understanding of the world around us through art and education. He researches the spatial nature of sound in both the physical and virtual world.
Raumklang is co-produced by V2_Lab & CCU and supported by Creative Fund NL & AIAIAI.
Please note: In STRP Digital Raumklang is an ongoing project and will be accessible all day throughout the festival.
