Merlin Sheldrake - Michel André - Simonne Jones

Merlin Sheldrake
Biologist and writer with a background in plant sciences, microbiology, ecology, and history and philosophy of science. His research ranges from the history of Amazonian ethnobotany, to the relationship between sound and form in resonant systems. He has a PhD in tropical ecology on underground fungal networks in Panama. As keen brewer and fermenter, he is fascinated by the relationships that arise between humans and more-than-human organisms. As musician he plays piano and accordion.

Michel André
Michel André is a Bioacoustician, professor at the Technical University of Catalonia, BarcelonaTech (UPC), the director of the Laboratory of Applied Bioacoustics (LAB), and founder and president of the Sense of Silence Foundation. His research involves the development and deployment of state-of-the-art technology to monitor biodiversity in land and underwater, as well as solutions to address the issue of ocean noise and its impact on marine ecosystems.

Simonne Jones
Simonne Jones was born in Hollywood and established herself in the experimentally charged atmosphere of Berlin. She is a multi-instrumentalist creating introspective electro pop that pushes the boundaries of a few genres. Her scientific background is a touchstone in her creative process. Her tracks create an intersection of science and the arts yet is grounded in human experience. Jones is in love with the universe.

Co-creator Antoine Bertin

Antoine Bertin is one of the winners of the ACT Awards 2020 (Award for Creative Technology). When it comes to science, feeling and exploring his surroundings, Antoine follows his instincts. His work is a mixture of compelling soundscapes, interactive stories and a tangible experience. His work has been seen (and heard) in Tate Britain, Serpentine Gallery, Palais de Tokyo and Sonar+D. Antione works together with Marshmallow Laser Feast, The Guardian VR and NTS Radio and runs his own sound experience studio: Sound Anything.

Moderator Robyn Landau

Robyn is working at the intersection of neuroscience, art and wellbeing. She is a multidisciplinary designer and communicator whose work translates Neuroaesthetics research into creative applications. Her work uncovers how our felt experience of the world around us impacts our states of being, drawing on concepts from embodiment, physiology and the breath to sonics, nature and emotional affect. Robyn is the co-founder of Kinda Studios, a creative science studio which uses neuroscience to demonstrate the impact of art on human connection and wellbeing.
