Before PROTO officially opens, we are inviting the Eindhoven creative community to take part in a live aluminium casting art event and help shape the space in a very literal way.
PROTO is our new dynamic space for experimentation made by and for the creative community. It was made in collaboration with Bart Hess, and a group of multidisciplinary artists and makers: Phoebe Zoe Ho, Douwe Teusink, Stefano Dealessandri, and Alice Baker.
This community art event combines live metal casting, installation art, and music, bringing together artists, designers, makers, and curious visitors in Eindhoven.
For one night, PROTO becomes a site of collective making. Inside a series of large sand beds filled with casting sand, visitors are invited to leave an imprint. This can be a symbol, a drawing, a word, or a gesture. Each mark becomes a moment held in material.
Throughout the evening, molten aluminium will be poured live into the sand moulds, capturing every trace and transforming it into a unique metal form. What begins as a temporary gesture in sand becomes something permanent, solid, weighty, and enduring.
All cast pieces created during the event will come together as a large-scale chandelier or suspended artwork, permanently installed in PROTO. The final work will function as a living archive of the community that helped shape the space from the very beginning, a collective signature embedded in its architecture.
Alongside the live casting process, the evening will include live music and DJs.
Free entry
Date: 20 February
Time: 20:00–23:00
Location: PROTO, Prof. Dr. Dorgelolaan 2, Eindhoven
