STRP PUNCH @De Pont Museum
On May 15, STRP collaborated with De Pont Museum for a special edition of PUNCH, featuring artist Iris van der Meule. Her Augmented Reality experience, In Stories We Trust, was developed in response to Meiro Koizumi’s exhibition THEATERS OF LIFE, and invited visitors to explore the power of collective storytelling.
Through a museum-wide AR treasure hunt of hand-drawn illustrations, Iris reinterpreted the story of Adam & Eve, using it as a lens to examine how foundational myths continue to influence contemporary ideas around gender, power, and heteronormativity. By layering digital narratives within the physical space of the museum, she opened up a critical dialogue on the stories we inherit and the roles they play in shaping cultural norms and systems of exclusion.
Echoing Koizumi’s practice, Iris challenged visitors to consider: Who writes our stories? How are they passed on? And what happens when these stories limit who belongs?
