Save the date! From 26 to 28 March 2026, STRP Festival will take place in Microstad. This event, featuring an exhibition, workshops and a music programme, explores how tranquillity, slowness and conscious use of technology can give us new strength and connectedness. Instead of going along with the constant acceleration, the programme focuses on more attentive experiencing, reflecting and rediscovering human and material energy. This programme shows how thoughtful technology does not exhaust us, but can nourish and deepen us.

On Thursday 26 and Friday 27 March, there will be an exclusive programme for education. Accompanied by a guide, participants will be given a tour of the exhibition, where shared experiences and activities are central. The tour lasts 50 minutes. Afterwards, students will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition on their own.

Material Mining Lab

We are increasingly living in an immaterial, virtual world, a world of videos, reels and games that shape our reality. But what if you could really feel that digital world? What if you could touch the materials from Minecraft, video games or virtual environments?

During Material Mining Lab, participants transform digital textures into tactile materials. They immerse themselves in the experimental working method of designer Bart Hess, in which (textile) material is stretched, stretched and processed with all kinds of substances, liquids and tools. During the creative process, they explore how digital images influence our idea of tactility. Why do we think we know how something feels when we only see it on a screen? How do you imagine the grain of digital sand, the smoothness of water from a video or the weight of a stone from a game? And what does that say about our relationship with the digital world?

This workshop was developed by Bart Hess.
