Even when things seem quiet, an unimaginable amount of unperceivable activity is happening in and around us. When we move or speak, thousands of vortexes are created, invisibly swirling the particles around us. Water, air, light and every gram of our bodies are made of the same elementary particles: and everything is constantly interacting.
Le Silence des Particules
Guillaume Cousin
Guillaume Cousin's air sculpture amplifies the ‘voice’ of the seemingly invisible elementary particles, by recreating a vortex through a ring of smoke. This smoke ring is made up of a few million particles, maintaining a balance in space and time. Slowly, the smoke slows down, becomes thinner and flickers, then suddenly breaks and dissipates. In fact, these rings are not so different from us: a pure natural phenomenon, a complex vibration of quantum fields.
Le Silence des Particules invites you to make a sensory experience of the invisible particles around us, to widen your circle of perception and to realize that everything is interacting.
Guillaume Cousin (FR) is a self-described "experimenter-builder". Cousin has a background as a scenographer and lighting designer in the performing arts. The understanding of quantum physics awakened the need to produce works off stage. In his work, Cousin explores the interplay between time and space, fascinated by the unconscious impact it has on us.
